How Exchange Works

Step 1: Get Ready to Exchange 

Sign up, create your profile, add at least one item to share, and complete your shipping address.

A complete profile helps create transparency and trust between members. Adding your shipping address before sending an exchange request helps speed up the shipping process and reduces extra steps later.

Once your profile, item, and shipping information are complete, you can start browsing items and sending exchange offers.

Step 2: Browse Exchange Items

Look at the top right. You'll see "Exchange Item" without a gift icon and "Gift Item" with a gift icon. Select the item without the gift icon.

You can find it using the navigation menu.

Step 3: Make an offer

Once you have completed your shipping address, this button will appear. Click the Exchange button to send an exchange offer.

Step 4: Pick the items you would like to exchange from the other user.

When you find items you like, you may select multiple items in one exchange request. If you click the box, you will see the item description. You can then click the "+" icon to select the items you would like from the other user. 

Step 5. Select the clothing you would like to offer to the other user.

You can choose as many items as you want to include in your exchange offer.

Step 6: If you want to view your offers, check the "Offers Out" option in the drop-down menu.

Click the Profile icon to open the drop-down menu. Select Offers Out to view the exchange offers you have sent.

If another user accepts your offer, you will receive a notification. You can also find accepted exchanges in the In Progress section of the drop-down menu.

Step 7: Wait for the Other User’s Decision

The other user reviews your exchange offer and decides whether to accept it.

If the other user is new, they will be asked to add their shipping address so that shipping fees can be calculated through Shippo.

Step 8: Confirm Shipping and Pay Shipping Fees

If your exchange offer is accepted, both users will be asked to choose the box size they will use to send their items, confirm their receiving address, and pay their own shipping label fees.

Step 9: Generate Shipping Labels

After payment, shipping labels are generated through the Giftsy platform and can be printed directly from your account.

Step 10: Ship Your Items (Within 7 Days)

Each sender prints the shipping label, packages the item, attaches the label, and ships the item.

You can track your shipment directly on Giftsy using the tracking information provided by Shippo.

Giftsy encourages users to ship their items within 7 days after an exchange is accepted.

We also encourage reusing empty boxes from previous deliveries whenever possible to reduce packaging waste.

Step 11: Track Your Packages

Both users can track shipments directly on the Giftsy website and will receive shipping notifications.

Step 12: Mark Items as Sent and Received

Mark your items as “Sent” and “Received” once shipping and delivery are completed.

Step 13: Send Karma Points

After you click “Done,” you will be taken to the History page, where you can send 1 to 3 karma points to the other user to recognize their generosity.
