How Giftsy Works

 

Step 1: Get Ready to Send a Story and Receive a Gift

 

Sign up, create your profile, add at least one item to share, and complete your shipping address.

A complete profile helps create transparency and trust between members. Adding your shipping address before sending an exchange request helps speed up the shipping process and reduces extra steps later.

Once your profile, item, and shipping information are complete, you can start browsing items and sending exchange offers.

 

Step 2: Browse Gift Items

 

Look at the top right. You'll see "Exchange Item" without a gift icon and "Gift Item" with a gift icon. Select the item without the gift icon.

 

 

You can find it using the navigation menu.

 

Step 4. Click the "Ask for Giftsy" button to request the item as a gift.

We recently added an AI-powered Try It On feature. Click the "Try It On" button if you would like to see how the item looks on you.

 

Add a full-body photo to see how the clothing you choose looks on you. Click the "Generate My Try-On" button and wait 1 to 2 minutes.

 

Step 5: Write Your Story

Write a short story explaining why you want the item. Be honest and thoughtful. Your story matters because the giver uses it to choose who to gift the item to. 

 

Step 6: Wait for the Giver’s Decision

The giver reads the stories from gift requesters and chooses who to accept.

Step 7: Pay the Shipping Fee (After Acceptance)

If the giver accepts your request, the giver will choose the box size that fits the item. We offer three box sizes: small, medium, and large.

After the story receiver chooses the box size and fills out the shipping address, they must wait for the story sender to review the shipping fee and address, then complete the shipping payment through Stripe.

You, the story sender, will then be prompted to review the shipping fee and shipping address, and pay the shipping label fee through Giftsy's built-in Stripe payment system.

   

Giftsy will generate the shipping label through the platform using Shippo. The story receiver can then print the shipping label and attach it to the package.

 

We encourage using reused or empty boxes from previous deliveries whenever possible to reduce packaging waste.

You can track your shipment through the tracking system provided by Shippo directly on the Giftsy website.

 

Step 8: Giver Ships the Item (Within 7 Days)

The giver prints the shipping label, packages the item, attaches the label, and drops it off at the post office or carrier location. Giftsy encourages users to ship within 7 days after accepting a gift request.

 

Step 9: Track Your Package

You can track the shipment through the Giftsy website. You will also receive notifications as the item moves through delivery.

 

Step 10: Mark as Received

Once you receive the item, mark it as “Received” to complete the gift.

 

Step 11: Send Karma Points

After you click “Done,” you will be taken to the History page where you can send 1 to 3 karma points to the giver to recognize their generosity.

 

Notes / Helpful Reminders

If you paid the shipping fee but the giver does not respond or does not send the item, Giftsy is not responsible for the other user’s actions. However, we can cancel your unused shipping label and refund the shipping label fee. Please email info@GetGiftsy.com and explain the situation.

 

Users may also ship independently using external shipping services outside of Giftsy if they prefer not to use Giftsy shipping labels.
